Our Bed and Breakfast in Minnesota offers an authentic and welcoming place to stay; a home that is reflective of the unique and storied history of the beautiful town of Lanesboro. This home was built in 1897 and has served many purposes in the community over the years.  It retains its exquisite Queen Anne Victorian charm, while still offering guests a range of amenities and modern conveniences.

Root River State Trail Bridge, near our Bed and Breakfast in Minnesota

Enjoy Your Time in Lanesboro, MN

Though staying at our exceptional Bed and Breakfast in Minnesota is reason enough to visit the charming town of Lanesboro, there are other wonderful things to see and do while you’re here.  Between exploring the stretches of the Root River State Trail, and exploring other charming towns along the way, and touring Amish Country, there’s enough to keep you busy for days.

Root River State Trail

The top attraction in Lanesboro is the 42-mile paved Root River State Trail.  Whether you plan to bike the length of the trail or walk/cycle portions of it, there’s plenty of beautiful scenery to soak up along the way, and several small communities worth visiting.

The Root River State Trail travels from the town of Fountain to Houston, passing the towns of Lanesboro, Whalen, Peterson, and Rushford along the way.  There’s also a connector trail that leads the way to the beautiful town of Preston. As you make your way down the trail, you’ll encounter outstanding views of the soaring limestone bluffs. The trail rises and falls with the bluffs, as it winds its way through the historic towns and past the rolling farmland in between.

Though the most popular way to experience the Root River State Trail is by bike, you can also head down the river itself!  Hop in a kayak or canoe, or get out on the water in a tube – and explore the Root River in an entirely new way! The river is mostly a gentle flow, and you can rent canoes and kayaks in Lanesboro at Root River Outfitters.

Amish Country Tours

One of the most popular things to do in Lanesboro, MN, aside from biking on the Root River Trail, is to tour Amish farms in the area.  The Lanesboro area is home to a large population of Amish families, giving visitors the perfect opportunity to stop by Amish shops for homemade goods.

Bluffscape Amish Tours is the main tour operator in town. If you would rather tour Amish Country on your own with no schedule or tour guide, there is the Amish Backroads Tour.
