Best practices at Habberstad House to prevent the spread of Covid-19

Our plan for keeping our guests safe

To ensure your health and safety during your stay here at the Habberstad House, you may notice we made many changes in our normal routines. Our goal is to still provide you with the best possible experience while here.

While at the Habberstad House:

Please follow the CDC guidelines for handwashing and sanitizing. Bottles of hand sanitizer are located in in various areas throughout the property. Please use it as necessary.

Wear a mask when in our common areas at all times per the Governor’s Executive Order going into effect July 25, 2020. You do not need to wear it when in your room, but we must require you to wear it when coming and going.

In addition, you will need to wear  your mask when you are visiting shops or restaurants in Lanesboro and other inside other businesses in Minnesota. Please follow proper social distancing guidelines when here.

The public areas in the house are currently closed. You are welcome to enjoy the front porch and any of the sitting areas on the grounds.

We will welcome you to our bed and breakfast with our masks on. Your keys will be available in your room. We sanitize pens and room keys before and after someone comes in contact with it. If we need to access your credit card (if not already in our system), we will process the transaction safely. Elaine’s mobile number will be provided for requests for assistance while you are staying. Otherwise, we will do our best to provide proper social distancing during your stay.

Self checkout is available. Just make sure to leave your key, preferably in your room or the room door lock.

Enhanced Safety Procedures:

We are using enhanced safety and cleaning protocols as outlined by the CDC and the Minnesota Department of Health, such as disinfecting door knobs, light switches and other surfaces frequently touched..

We are leaving rooms empty the day before you check in to allow more time for cleaning and air movement. Common areas are cleaned and sanitized often during your stay. We removed extra linens and throw pillows. In addition, we are not booking all of our rooms to allow for only 10 or less in the house at one time.

We wash all linens at the highest temperatures possible after every stay.

Our staff will only work if healthy.

We will not enter your room during the duration of your stay. We will exchange and replenish items in your room as-needed while maintaining physical distancing. If you need anything, please ask.

There are paper towels and disinfectant wipes available to you in your room.

Breakfast Service:

We are serving breakfast in the rooms as our dining room is closed. We wear masks when delivering or serving breakfast. Breakfast will be delivered either in a basket or on a tray between 8:30 and 9 a.m. All food is covered in plastic wrap.

If the weather cooperates, you may sit outside for breakfast also.

If a family or group is traveling together, they may sit at the dining room table together. No unknown parties are seated together for meals.

Keurigs are available for coffee and hot water dispensing in several of our rooms with extra water in pitchers. Alternatively, a pot of coffee or hot water for tea will be provided to you as arranged for breakfast.

Dishes are washed in our dishwashers using the sanitizing option.

Policy Changes:

We only want you to come if you are healthy and have not been exposed to the coronavirus. We have relaxed our 8-day cancellation policy for 2020 due to the coronavirus, and will return your deposit less a $35 cancellation fee. We also can offer you a gift certificate or have you rebook at a later date if desired.

The safety and comfort of our guests is a high priority for us, as well as the safety of our staff. We appreciate you booking a stay with us and look forward to welcoming you here.
