Along the journey, you'll enjoy picturesque farmland, quaint riverside towns, and eventually 300-foot tall towering limestone bluffs rising above you.The Root River also provides habitat for over 40 species of birds, including blue herons, egrets, wood ducks, and several species of raptors. Other commonly-spotted wildlife includes deer, gray fox, red fox, coyotes, raccoons, woodchucks, squirrels, weasels, and badger, and river otters.
